Gone Fishing!

Off to Scotland for a week tomorrow - well here to be more precise (not the castle itself but the little lodge at the South Gate!!). We're going to see our plot again to get inspired as life and work has got in the way of progress.

See you all in a week!

Today I have been mostly spinning.........

Dsc01686 Coiled yarn which takes a loooooooong time to do (and you need a strong right arm). For details of what it is and how to spin it look here.

I started out trying to spin a thicker yarn but ended up with something that had too much TPI (twist per inch) so I remembered that I wanted to try this technique which is really fun but, as I said takes a long time. I've used the BFL that I dyed in the summer heat therefore I've named this yarn my "Twisted Summer Heat" skein to remind me of the barmy summer of 2006!

Spend, spend, spend!

Opps, I've just accidentally bought these from here!

I just couldn't wait any longer, and my excuse is............I'm actually SAVING money! Just think how expensive individual pairs of circulars would be in all those lengths. Yes, I'm sick of looking at patterns and not having the right needles to hand - well those days have gone (yippee). Let’s hope they're as wonderful as everyone says they are.

Talking of on the needles, I'm forcing myself to try to finish off WIPs before casting on anything else. This is really hard but I'm nearing the end of a jumper I started in January!!!! More on that when it’s finished...........

Feeling sheepish

Dsc01683 Shaun the sheep arrived in today's post. He's here to help me save for the huge yarn splurge I plan to have at Woolfest at the end of my yarn diet. There's only 9 months and 4 weeks to go (help!!!!!!!!!!).

I bought him on ebay (where else) after spending a long time looking at piggy banks I suddenly realised that I really needed a sheep bank - obvious now but not at the time.......is the lack of yarn purchases sending me over the edge?

Yarn Forward and Celebrations

Have you signed up yet for a copy of the new UK knitting magazine Yarn Forward? Its by Kerrie from HipKnits and MagKnits fame so should be good, and god knows we need a decent magazine in this country. I'm afraid that Knitting and Simply Knitting have either patterns from Rowan and Debbie bliss (i.e. not original or different) and no decent articles to get your teeth into like Spin Off has. I suspect that Yarn Forward will be a bit different (fingers crossed).

As for celebrations........DH and I celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday. Here we are comming out of the registry office at Park Circus in Glasgow in 2001.Wedding_photo_small This is my favorite photo as we both seem so happy (DH said he was relieved it was all over!).

The wee white haired woman is my gran and yes she really is THAT small!

My DH really pushed the boat out this year and bought me these lovely flowers Dsc01670and a silver bangle with diamonds from Hot Diamonds. Dsc01669_1 If you don't know about this jewellery then I highly recommend checking out their site. Its really contemporary without being over the top expensive for a special gift.

And as if that wasn't enough to top it all we had some lovely gifts from our friends including this AMAZING cake made by Shirley and Ali Turner.Dsc01680 Dsc01679 Just look at the detail and they hand made all of the flowers too!Dsc01674

We're so lucky to have such talented friends - thank you ladies xxxDsc01672

Oh and just to finish off I caught Wally sleeping in this position today (and no the photo isn't orientated wrongly)!Dsc01682
