One hour five minutes and twenty three seconds - that's how long it took my friend Lynne and I to complete the Glasgow Women's 10K last weekend. It was my third 10K but first time doing the Glasgow race and I was especially pleased with my time as I'd had an upset stomach all week so couldn't train plus I was at my sister's 40th birthday party the night before which went on to the wee hours of Sunday morning! Lynne (fellow knitter and the great friend who knitted me my pink shawl) and I talked about knitting along the whole route. Without that distraction I would certainly have struggled but there's no way I could have knitted like that woman who did the London marathon recently.
It was lovely to see family and friends again and the hightlight of the party had to be the stretch limo my BIL hired to ferry all 12 females at the party around Paisley for an hour signing Karaoke! Classy! It was my first limo trip and a good laugh!
I also really enjoyed having four days off as we made it a long weekend. It was my first break this year and I hadn't realised how tired I've been of late (plus it gave my shoulder a rest).
Knitting wise
I've been taking it easy by working slowly on a cardi for DH's friend who's wife is due at the end of July. I'm using left over Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino in apple I used to make a hoodie last year. Its so soft and yummy :) I'm using a pattern from her "Special Knits" book which is nice and simple. In fact this will be my first ever cardi!
I've also started to warp up my knitters loom with yarn that's been in my stash even before I started knitting again! I bought handspun 2ply yarn while on holiday on Islay from a lady who keeps rare bread sheep but unfortunately I don't know which breed the fibres are from. The yarn is too rough to knit anything to wear with and I'm a bit worried that it may be a bit "hairy" (that's a technical term I'm sure) to weave with but I'll give it a go anyway.
I've got about 400g so I'm hoping to make two long scarfs the full width of the loom which I may sew together to make a big wrap but maybe that's being a bit over ambitious at this stage..............lets wait and see.

Great job on the race! What an accomplishment!

congratulations on your 10k, as a professional slug I'm in awe of anyone who can run for more than about three steps (my usual limit).

I was wondering why you hadn't updated in a while and then I realised that you had - I had not added you back to my blogroll after it went antsy and dumped everything. I'm so sharp!
Anyway, congratulations on the 10k, I would need rescusitated if I tried that.
Hoping the shoulder problem heals and lets you get on with crafting.

Well done- that was really good going in the race.
Your balled up yarn looks like a scrummy wedding cake or somethiing by the way.

Excellent. I started running again a wee while back but there's no way I'm on for a race yet. Nowt like the wonderful tackiness of a limo ride either. It is good fun and amazing how much bubbly you can get through in an hour!

Well done on the 10K. I did one a couple of years ago but have been shamefully slothful and not done another one since. If I could find someone to talk about knitting while running I'm sure it would appeal more!

Well done on the running - I feel very fat and unfit in the face of your example.
Hope the knitting projects turn out well. That particular little cardigan was the starting point for my most recent knit tho' I went with the A line shape instead because I liked the lack of armhole seaming ! Lazy ? Who ? Me ?

Oh I have been out of touch lately sorry, silly blogroll doesn't update any more for some reason !!
Congratulations on the 10k race I can only dream of such things these days and treadle my wheel instead :)The limo outing sounded like so much fun :)
The weaving sounds good and I have been saving some 'rough wool' to weave with , some dyed and some not and I was thinking of weaving them to make floor cushion which I love and so do the dogs !!
